Abstract: Oleanolic acid (OA), a pentacyclic triterpenoid, possesses a variety of pharmacological activities, such as hepatoprotective effect, antiinflammatory, enhancing immunity. Recently, many studies show that OA has inhibitory effects on the growth of many tumors and is a kind of potential antitumor drug. Its antitumor mechanisms mainly include regulating signaling pathway, arresting cell cycle, inducing apoptosis, antiangiogenesis, inhibiting tumor invasion and so on.

Key words: Oleanolic acid, Antineoplastic agents, Apoptosis
