  • Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement of Journal of International Oncology

    Journal of International Oncology follows the recognized publication ethics. Editors, editorial board members, reviewers, authors and publishers involved in the publication of this journal must comply with the publication ethics. We firmly oppose plagiarism in any form. Authors submitting articles to the journal should affirm that manuscript contents are original. They should also warrant that their article has neither been published elsewhere in any language fully or partly, nor is it under review for publication anywhere.

    The editors, authors and reviewers of Journal of International Oncology should perform the following duties, and adhere to the submission guidelines and other requirements of the journal.

     Duties of Editors

    1. Academic misconduct detection: After the author has registered and uploaded the manuscript in the online submission system of our journal, the editor should conduct academic misconduct detection on the manuscript.

    2. Review of manuscripts: The journal carries out double-blind peer review, and reviewers are required to put forward specific suggestions on acceptance, rejection or modification of manuscripts. The editorial department will accept the manuscripts that are published without objection or are approved by effective negotiation to ensure the objectivity and impartiality of the review results. Editors must ensure that every manuscript accepted by this journal is subject to knowledge content review.

    3. Confidentiality agreement: The editorial department has the right and obligation to keep strictly confidential the names of reviewers and the manuscript process before publication. The author may request one or some peer experts to avoid reviewing the manuscript when submitting the manuscript, which will be taken into consideration by the editorial department when submitted for review.

    4. Academic ethics supervision: All members of the editorial board and the editorial department have the responsibility to supervise the academic ethics of the journal, and ensure the consistent high standard and strict academic ethics style of this journal, such as non-commercial profit, true and reliable arguments, and highly scientific arguments.

    5. Maintains the scientific nature of the publication: Before the manuscripts are printed, the editorial department shall edit and process the accepted manuscripts. If necessary, it shall communicate with the authors about the standardization of the manuscripts. If major problems of published papers are found, a statement of correction, clarification, cancellation and apology should be issued when necessary according to the consensus reached by all members of the editorial board, all editorial staff of the editorial department and reviewers after unanimous discussion.

     Duties of reviewers

    1. Confidentiality principle: Abide by the rules of anonymous review by peer experts of this journal. Without any authorization from the Editor-in-Chief, the information related to manuscript review shall not be disclosed or discussed with others, so as to ensure the confidentiality of the review process.

    2. Objectivity principle: Reviewers must be objective and fair in the review of manuscripts, carrying sufficient evidence and clear arguments, objective and fair comments, with no evaluation or criticism of the author.

    3. Avoid conflict or relationship with the manuscript: The reviewers should have no conflict of interest or relationship with the study, the author and/or the sponsor of the study.

    4. Citation confirmation: The reviewers should give specific evaluation to the references cited in the manuscript to ensure the correctness and completeness of the citation. In case of any significant similarities or overlaps with other publications, the reviewers should communicate with the editorial department in time.

    5. Timeliness of review: Reviewers should keep the efficiency of review results and give review conclusions as soon as possible. If the reviewer cannot confirm the review result of the assigned manuscript or it is impossible to complete the review within the specified time, the editor should be informed as soon as possible so that the editorial department can change the reviewer.

     Duties of authors

    1. Peer Review Agreements: Authors who contribute to this journal are considered to voluntarily comply with the requirements of anonymous peer review. Authors may appeal to the editorial department about the review results, but they shall not obtain any personal information of the reviewers in any way.

    2. Academic standardization: The journal requires that research papers must be innovative with scientific argument, clear argument, rigorous reasoning and complete content. The words should be accurate and concise with reliable data. The illustrations are supposed to be of high clarity and readability. The papers shall full and complete, and shall comply with the national legal unit of measurement, number usage, punctuation and other standards.

    3. Originality: The journal only publishes the first manuscript. It is strictly prohibited to submit one manuscript to more than one journals. It is also forbidden to submit manuscripts with repeated contents (including submitting in different document types) and plagiarize other people’s papers. Once the above cases are found, the manuscript of the author will be rejected, the author will be blacklisted. At the same time, the author’s organization and the relevant professional journals will be notified. The author shall be responsible for any confidential matters.

    4. Requirements for references: Where the author quotes other people’s views, data and materials in the paper, the relevant books and periodicals cited should be indicated in order, and the references shall be listed at the end.

    5. Requirements for fund projects: If the paper is supported by a certain research fund, the official name and number of the fund project source should be indicated in the manuscript.

    6. Requirements for the signature of the author: The author of the manuscript must be a member who directly participates in the research work or plays an important guiding role (such as graduate tutor, etc.). It is strictly forbidden to register the name of the person who is unrelated to the paper.

    7. Copyright transfer agreement: The copyright of the paper belongs to the author, and the author shall bear the responsibility. The editorial department of this journal has the right to modify the text of the manuscript, and the Chinese Medical Association has the copyright to the manuscript. After the publication of the paper, the author agrees to automatically transfer the copyright of the paper to the Chinese Medical Association, including the rights of electronic publishing, multimedia publishing, online publishing and other forms of publishing. If the author does not allow our journal to make text and content modification of the manuscript, or does not agree with the reprint, excerpt and inclusion of the paper, please make a statement at the time of submission.

     Retractions and Corrections

    1. Editors should consider retracting a publication if they have clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of misconduct (e.g. data fabrication) or honest error (e.g. miscalculation or experimental error); the findings have previously been published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission or justification (i.e. cases of redundant publication); it constitutes plagiarism; it reports unethical research.

    2. Notices of retraction should be linked to the retracted article wherever possible (i.e. in all electronic versions); clearly identify the retracted article (e.g. by including the title and authors in the retraction heading); be published promptly to minimize harmful effects from misleading publications.

    3. Editors should consider issuing a correction if a small portion of an otherwise reliable publication proves to be misleading (especially because of honest error); the author/contributor list is incorrect (i.e. a deserving author has been omitted or somebody who does not meet authorship criteria has been included).
