Abstract: The phosphatidylinositide3kinase (PI3K)/ protein kinase B (Akt)/ mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway is recognized to have an important role in the development and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). The most extensively characterized downstream targets of mTORC1 are ribosomal protein S6 kinase 1 (p70S6K1) and eukaryotic translation initiation factor (eIF) 4Ebinding protein 1 (4EBP1), both of which are crucial to the regulation of protein synthesis. The abnormal expression of p70S6K1 and 4EBP1 in CRC has become the focus of attention.
